Time Marches On

We have officially gone from a family of 3 to 4. Orson Zander Johnson was born on November 25th in the evening. He is a strong willed little boy and we love him. He was back to his birth weight on his 2 week check up and is growing like a weed.

The adjustment of having another child in the home has been a hard one for Charlie. He is learning to take it in stride but doesn't want to have much to do with his brother. He wants to know he is okay and where he is but that is the extent of it. He asks when Orson can talk to him and play. I think when Orson can interact with him more Charlie will enjoy his brother. For now he is this small thing that takes a lot of time and eats and poops a lot.

Zoey our lab has dealt with the addition well. She is more curious and comfortable around babies now and she sniffs at Orson's basinet at night when she makes her rounds to check the house.

Since 2009 is also nearing a close I will also summarize our year.

Dallas is 7 classes away from graduating with his BS in Finance. Yay! His terms are 6 months terms so he probably won't be able to finish until next spring but it is a big milestone still. He works as an inventory coordinator at Thermo Fisher. He and has been on a few 5S and PPI projects at work this year that have received recognition and he is working hard supporting our family while getting tution reimbursement.

I (Brita) am enjoying being a mom at home on maternity leave and will be going back to my job as an legal admin and executive assistant at Thermo Fisher in February. I am still recoverning from the c-section from Orson but managed to finish out the semester with the help of pain pills. School has been slow going and I will again apply for the RN program at Weber State University. Hopefully this will be the year but we shall see. Every year I don't get accepted and re-apply it is an extra application point. Oh, and I am credit wise a junior. Wahoo! Like that really means anything at this point except it makes it easier to register for my classes but I am grateful for it.

Charlie is turning into such a little man. He will be starting primary in just a few weeks and in a year and a half with be going to kindergarden. I can't believe it! He loves dinosaurs, dragons and anything with an engine (train, car, boat...). He can now use the computer and navigate PBSkids.org and play the learning games. It is amazing to see him learn and progress daily. He really wants to know what everything is a why things happen. I know every mother thinks her child is smart but I do believe we have a little smartie pants on our hands. He has the Hauptman engineer mentality with the Johnson charm.

Orson is growing daily. He enjoys eating, baths and sleeping. His mother aspires for him to start sleeping for more than 4 hours at a time next month.

Well, 2009 has been a blast. Now bring on a bright and shining 2010.

It seems that my camera cable is missing for now so I will post photos of Orson later. Good night all.

Feet...

Yeah I know it sounds wierd at first, but doctors rock. My son was born with some twisted feet, clubbed feet to be exact. I'll post some pics and better explanations later. Our son had his feet checkup today and things are going swimmingly.

Dallas is older and wiser and our family is growing

This is a long over due blog. Dallas is now 30! Wahoo. A year older but now he is a handsomer 30 year old man. Happy Birthday honey. We had a friends party with pizza and horseshoes at the park and then a family BBQ to celebrate the birthdays of all 5 extended family members with birthdays in April.

We just also found out that soon we will be a family of four. Little baby Johnson is coming in December. The first ultrasound will be next month and we will post more details then on the due date.

Charlie woke up this morning with a dry diaper. Once I got him dressed and was going to change him he told me he needed to use the potty. Then he sat on his potty and used it all by himself. He got a hard hat sticker to add to the lid of his dumptruck potty and he was very pround. He also used his potty last night so we are very excited that he has again become interested in "being a big boy".

School is out in 2 more weeks. I am very excited for the end of this semester. It isn't like I am very pregnant but I feel very tired and can't wait for the break. I am offically a junior so it feels like there is a light in the tunnel but maybe it is just the warm weather outside. We are all so excited to play in the yard and to hit parks in the evening. No more McDonald's play land for us. :) We can play at the real parks.

Now it is time for bed. Momma needs some sleep.

Kids say the darndest things

Our little Charlie has quite the imagination. When I picked him up from nursery class on Sunday the other week his teachers were giggling and saying they now had to refer to the Holy Ghost as the Holy Spirit. That Sunday they had a lesson on the Holy Ghost and every time they said "Holy Ghost" Charlie would put up his hands fingers faced forward and wiggly them in a creppy manner and say "spooo-keeey" in a scary voice.

I ponder as to how his little two year old brain came up with this. We read him the Mercer Mayer books. There is one titled Daddy and Me (or something to that effect). In the book the little boy goes camping with his Dad and he tells his that ghost stories and uses spooky fingers. :) Ah-HAH!

Oh, and thank you Uncle Kyle for telling our child that his bummed is cracked. He is now very concerned who broke it. I keep telling him that everyone has a cracked bum but I don't think he quite believes me.

Dog Whisperer

I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth and then it suddenly got quiet in the front room. I went to go check on Charlie and then I heard him saying "wait, wait, wait...". This is what he was up to.

I am looking thru some old pictures on the computer and these are a few of my favorites. I can't believe how fast Charlie is growing and how much has changed in our lives since these were taken.

New Things...

I am new to this blog experience. Up until now I have just posted pictures on Facebook of our family to keep in touch with family and friends. This will be a work in progress.
